portrait artist & painter

For as long as she can remember, Christen Benat has loved to paint. She picked up a brush at a young age and has been painting ever since. After spending several years in corporate America in advertising and visual merchandising, Christen now enjoys working as a full-time artist.

Christen’s artistic focus is on portraiture. She thrives on the challenge of capturing a unique likeness and the essence of each of her subjects. Christen especially enjoys painting children, pets and horses.

Christen has studied with such noted artists as Dawn Whitelaw, Kay Polk, Doug Dawson and Peggi Kroll Roberts. Christen is a member of the Portrait Society of America, Oil Painters of America, the Association of Creative Artists and Richardson Civic Art Society.

Christen was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and now resides in Richardson with her husband, Rich and a menagerie of  pampered pets. She and her husband own and breed Egyptian Arabian horses.

Art transforms and personalizes the places where we live and work, providing a connection to what we feel is meaningful.
